I tell you what.... I grew up in a Dominican Pentecostal Family in Brooklyn, NY. Dating was coming to your house para un cafesito. It used to crack me up. They would come over sit on your couch, expect you to cook dinner and as soon as dinner is almost over there better be the aroma of Cafe Bustelo in the air or there was gonna be some problems..hahah. This is kind of random but this forum brought that memory back. I love Domincan Men, but it is true, they are romantic, good lovers, nice pillow talk, but depending on the way they were raised they have their traditions. My uncle is married to a Puerto Rican woman and her mom called my uncle lazy because when he comes home he doesnt help clean or cook. Most of them are not raised to do so, the ladies do that. My mom (my uncle's sister) explained that my uncle is a traditional Dominican man, (translation) when he comes home from work the food better be on the table, the crib better be spic n span and you better be ready to get bizaayyy. hahah

so true, geez, they are such savages!! and if she works outside the house she better get her ass in the house in time to start dinner so when the king comes home the table better be set. My poor sister inlaw runs around doing errands, picking up the kids, while my brother waits on the couch until she sets the food on the table, he won't get his ass up off the couch to get a glass of water. My mom really spoiled those three men, my brothers.

Tell me about it, my cousin is dating a puerto rican girl and he woke her up from her sleep to get him a glass of water. hahaha I may be Dominican but I'm from Brooklyn. If that was me.. people in hell would have a better chance at getting ice water than he would have waking me up in the middle of the night for water..lol

This is a great thread. I especially like how people are not holding back.
Some may find it "blunt" but it's better to hear this stuff now than to find out later.
Note to gringos: If you are dating a Dominicana...certainly be a gentleman but always be aware that if you are too nice they will start to walk all over you. Why? Because they know they can. Try being "macho" every once in a while so she does not confuse you with the doormat. When dealing with her and her friends you have to show your tiguere colors every once in a while.
