Snuffy - interesting thread. To clarify on money - one way to state this - If I choose to buy something, fine. IF you ask me to buy you something - you are done!

Snuffy, you got most of it right. There are tons of women in the DR. They will date you if you treat them nice and show them a good time. You don't have to pay their bills or buy them whatever they ask for. However if, they start telling you a sob story about money, or If they ask for money saying bye bye may not always be in your best interests.
The average Dominican female that a tourist will meet will certainly be more economically depressed than the tourist. Because she has no job and no money of her own she perceive that since you have money, you can spend it on her and her friends and family. That is simply the mindset of many of the younger Dominican females. DR women are a lot like the old Supply side Economy theory, "supply creates its own demand," the idea is that one must sell before one can afford to buy, and the only thing these women have to sell is their companionship.
I am living proof that age and outward appearances does not limit any male from finding a young and beautiful Dominican woman who is willing to provide a million dollars worth of pleasure for a fraction of that cost. Romance however, whether real or perceived, is an expensive business regardless of where it manifests.
There are several reasons why a man would depart with his hard earned money on a woman in the Dominican Republic.
LUST & SEXUAL PLEASURE ONLY
Non resident men spend more money in this category than can be imagined. There is a multitude of women in the DR that will provide sex for money. I find nothing wrong with this and admit that I have danced that dance a few times in the DR. Here you get what you pay for and can budget your spending.
COMPASSION OR PITTY
This can cost you dearly. You meet and romance a woman, develop a relationship and then ponder over her dire financial situation. She is so sweet, so loving and so much more attractive than any woman you have been involved with before. You begin to believe that she deserves so much more than she has. Little do you realize, once you start providing for her you will be expected to provide for her family as well. The costs of this relationship can be staggering.
TRUE LOVE
This is the worst of all. Love means commitment. It is a blinding monster. It will drain your bank account faster than an IRS seizure. Take caution before falling in love in the DR.
Love and romance in the DR is a wonderful thing. It certainly has given me some of life’s greatest pleasures. It has also ripped my heart out, empted my pocket book, destroyed friendships, and made me paranoid. However, on the bright side, my frequent flyer mileage account is at an all time high, I eat more rice and chicken, I have photos that my friends droll over, I am learning a new language, and I think I am spending less time in the doctors office.
Oh BTW, forget that crap about giving flowers, you will enjoy the new sleepwear you buy her much more.

How nice to read posts by guys giving each others tips on what to watch out for. It is really amusing as a woman to read your points of view - all of which I can't disagree with and I'm sure you have fun reading the views on the other side of the coin as well.
If we listened to you (and your honesty) and you to us we'd probably be a little better off as well as having the best laughs of our lives...although there will never be a set of instruction to follow to know what the answers are, (unless she/he's a blow up doll) which is what our lives are all about.
And if things don't go as planned, pick yourself back off the floor; next time just don't go using your mastercard to try and win their hearts.

How dare they be so picky - I'd go for straight cash if I thought I'd get it!
