Hello everyone ,, I was reading some of the message boards last night and feel so discouraged..... is it possible for ladies to find genuine ,,for real dominican men or are they all players,,,how do you know if you have found a spanky panky sorta man or a trustworthy ,honest man?????

There are many good men, but they are not the ones who tourists get to meet, unfortunately.
Those who frequent the tourist areas, are not the kind you want to know.

What you read here is mostly stories about resort workers that tourist have met during vacations. Unfortunately tourist don't have the opportunity or time to go inland and meet the rest of the Dominicans.

Disclaimer;
Not saying that you can't meet a decent Dominican in a tourist area but the chances are slim.

well i guess its discouraging as i DID (i know as i am writing this it is prob sounding dumb) meet a resort worker ,,, not animation though,,i watched the animation guys and you can obviously see what they are all about ,,this man i met did seem diffrent ,,, He went to great lengths to convince me he was diffrent from animation guys and asked people of importance eg ,his boss etc to tell me about his character (but these are his friends they are going to say good things)its just so hard to figure out if hes being opportunistic or not???? He seemed quite genuine? but that could have been put on,,,I struggle with trying to figure it out,,, He has written once ,,and called prob 5 times since i have been back ,, i have only spoke to him 2 times as i was not home when he called the other times,,he left 2 messages,,,,,Sorry if i sound dumb,,,, i was just hoping i had met a quaility friend.

Also keep in mind that relationships take time and he shouldn't be in a hurry for anything like to be with you untill you have known him for many many more visits.

You should also be aware of Cultural Differences!

This topic has been discussed numerous times of course and the bottom line is if this guy isn't a devout churchgoer, protestant or catholic, he is 99% more than likely playing you. There is a lot of pressure on guys here to have multiple girlfriends and getting a gringa girlfriend would be the ultimate trophy to add to the trophy case. If he gets money or gifts or residency, all the better.

Chip-that's a pretty strong satement/opinion is it not? To state that only devout churchgoers can be (in the DR) a "non-player" is a tad over the top. Is this what are you saying or am I interpeting it incorrectly?
