I will start by saying, this is my second post to dr1, and how i wished i had
known about you one year ago when everything started. I will first tell you that I have never been to the Dominican Republic, I did not know what a Sankie was and I never thought that that in a million years that I would become has stupid has I have been these past 9 months, After finding your website by accident, I realized that I was not just being nice to someone who I believed really needed help, but I was actually being used and I am sure laughed at. I can not thank you enough for the honesty (although sometimes brutal) you do try show to others when their questions are asked, but I do want you know although I am a stranger to all of you, I can not thank you enough, you have showed me that life will get better, my mistakes are hopefully in the past, and I will be ok. So for all of you, May the New Year be Good for All of Us.

here is a small part of what i am going through. I knew this man from the dr while he was "working" here in the us, he told me one day out of the blue he loved me and had loved me for a couple of years, he then was sent back to his home. After a couple of months he called my cell phone, telling me he still loved me and wanted to see me when he could return here, but until that time, could I help him financially and he would of course pay me back when he returns,, so, like a lovestruck fool I have sent him money weekly, pay for food for his family, medicine for his sick family and neighbors, the list goes on, even has I type this I see what a fool I have been, what do I do now, beside the obvious, do I tell him the next time I know He is just using me, or just not answer the phone it has been 6 months....When did I ever become so stupid? thanks for your imput...

hi,well as the previous post shows, I did in fact help someone out that I had known here in the us for a couple of years, and when he returned home he did call me asking for me to help him out financially, he told me some horrible stories about his home life (and because I never visited, I really had no idea what conditions he actually lived in), and so, I started to send him money so he could buy things he needed for his home, light for living room, pan to cook in, food for his family which consists of wife, three children, niece, etc.all living with him, and course he needed money for all the doctors vists, then came additional costs, money to prepare visa applications so he could bring his family to the us, money for neighbors who lost everything in the flood after the hurricane,money for childrens school, and clothing to go to school, the list goes on and on, and the whole time I believed what he was saying, because how could one person lie to another for his own gain. But when he bought a new car, did the hammer hit me in the head and i started to look up on the web, maybe what the actual cost of living was in the Dominican Republic, and that is when I found DR1 and started to realize that I was actually being used, how I had heard many of the same reasons he needed money was also being said on your sankie post, how things he would say about paying me back, I knew would never happen, but for a while I still could not believe this was happening to me. But it did, and even now I am so sick that I believed everything he said. I can not go back and change anything, and I have not answered any of his calls or messages telling me how sick someone is, I can only continue to not be stupid anymore. (wish me luck please)
