Default fall in love

I read all the warnings about Dominican woman and foreign men. regardless of social and economic circumatances. It seems so black and white. Is there any true love between people in the country? There must be examples of a 37 year old teacher falling in love witha 55 year old man professioanal American or Canadian and they live happily ever after.

Default Hmmmm

There could be true love anywhere regardless of situations, BUT (and it's a big But) You have to be much more careful here. We (meaning Americans, Canadians, Europeans) just have to think longer and harder before we fall in love due to the fact that in most cases we are walking around with a big red rubber stamp on our heads that says TOURISTA, and rather than being seen as human, we are walking talking dollar signs, to the poor majority. No matter
how open minded and well intentioned you may be, just be careful. (favorite quote-"Don't be so open minded that your brain falls out")

Don't forget we are in a place where sex is not thought of a love-making, its often a profession and pass time, and a way to provide for ones family. Most prostitutes here are married and their husbands are fine with them sleeping around with unsuspecting Touristas, but if she dared be with another Dominican man she's be dead. This works the same with the Sankies. Give it a shot, but keep your eyes and ears open. Additionally the majority are devoted Christians/ and or evangelic, and while they would never dare smoke drink or curse, they will fake a loving relationship and take all your money.

REMEMBER MASLOW'S HEIERCHY OF NEEDS:

1. Physiological needs :

* Breathing
* Water
* Sleep
* Food
* Sex

2. Safety needs

* Personal security
* Financial security
* Health and well-being
* Safety net against accidents/illness and the adverse impacts

Failing to meet these needs leads to apathy and weakness, such people still struggle to satisfy the basic physiological and safety needs. They are primarily concerned with survival: obtaining adequate food, clothing, shelter, and seeking justice from the dominant societal groups. (This is where the Average Dominican is in their life --not to generalize I know there are many very well to do and educated Dominicans, but this is not who we are talking about here)

3. Social needs

* friendship
* intimacy
* having a supportive and communicative family

4. Esteem

* Confidence
* Respect by and for others
* Self esteem

5. Self Actualization

* Morality
* Creativity
* Lack of prejudice
* Problem solving

Remember while the average American is somewhere between 3-5, the average Dominican is between 1-2.

Just some thoughts. I know love defis logic (TRUST ME I KNOW)...

All things are possible!
There is lots of "true love" going on.
The problems seem to start when the environment changes - e.g. tourist/expat takes woman/man to the home country.

Here is a thought -
When I was a lad, I was a pro-musician.
This fact made it possible for me to date girls that would have otherwise been "out of my league". They saw the guy on stage in front of large crowds being applauded and being treated like a king. They could read about me and see me on T.V. They could buy my CDs in music shops.
That is part of the reason why I wanted to be a musician when I was young - chicks dig it and it beats working for a living.
They like the perceived opportunities that come with dating a musician. (Yes I was earning a good living - still am actually, although the royalties are not so impressive these days. Young people have terrible taste these days!)

Now I can date girls that would be "out of my league" because I am a Gringo.
Same set of rules apply in my opinion. Initially, the girl is happy to be with me because of her perception of what she thinks I am - a Gringo.

I have been accused of being predatory, dating a beautiful young Dominican woman but was never thought of as predatory dating a beautiful young British woman. Why?

What is the difference?
Is one the abuse of power and the other not?

I am who I am and the girl is going to find out soon enough that I am a decent, hardworking, non-violent, faithful, honest, mainly sober, decent human being, (And devastating in the sack )
That is when she will make the decision to hang around or not - when she realises that I am no easy mark - that her initial perceptions have to be adjusted to fit reality.

The point I am making is that although being a Gringo may get you an introduction to these girls - once you show them that you are no fool - they will either stay or go depending on their motives and what they really think of you.
If you keep your wits about you, things should work out fine or not as the case may be - if you do not make the classic mistakes of being a Western Union boyfriend, or deciding to date a woman whose job is having sex with tourists for money regularly, the same rules apply as do with "normal" relationships.

You use what fate has given you.
You could be;
  • The nicest guy in the world
  • Be a musician
  • Be a sports star
  • The most caring guy in the world
  • Be the best lover in the world
  • The funniest guy in the world
  • The most romantic poet in the world
  • The most handsome guy in the world
  • The richest guy in the world
  • Have the biggest dxxk in the world
  • Have the best body in the world
  • Be a decent guy (less effective but some weird chicks dig that too!)
  • All of the above - like me.

Do not expect for things to work out if you fall in love with a hooker on holiday.
But expect things to work out if you want them to - and take action accordingly. You have to get over the initial perceptions the girl may have of you as a rich Gringo and you could be fine.

When MAO Tse Tung was asked whether the French Revolution had worked out - he said, "It is too early to tell."
To some extent the same answer applies to all on-going relationships.

Eat your heart out DR. Phil.....

P.S. Women spend more time thinking about what men are thinking about, than men spend time thinking.

It won't let me edit - I want to delete the whole post as I sound like a wuss!!
What I meant to say was - "Go on my son! Enjoy your holiday! Shag 'em all and never look back. Do not let them sucker you in."

I do not what came over me with all that girlie nonsense above - apologies to all!

I am off to watch sport, drink beer, pick my nose and scratch my balls until I acheive Nirvana.
