The Barrio Chopas, Cueros (apologize for previous typo), Chopas de la Playa etc. don’t deserve all the public attention they’re getting. Why even consider them a problem unless you’re called by God to fight the war against them. Time for a seafood lunch.

well the problem is this:

many gringos that travel abroad to places like DR, Colombia, Brazil, Thailand, Phillipines, etc are travelling so they can have what they perceive as a great sexual relationship with a girl they never could get when they were 25 and in the prime of their youth.

so what happens IMO is they get down there to those places and then see what their money can actually buy and they get dumbfounded.
the hot young foreign gal fuks their brains out and the gringo starts thinking with his machete instead of his brains.

so he gets to thinking- wow, can i have this for a while? i mean i've got some cash on me- and with the exchange rate...geez i could have a girl like this anytime i come down here.

so he's using her and she's using him.

in the states about the only way a man can get with a gal that is young enough to be his daughter or granddaughter- he's gotta fork out cash and LOTS of it.

so he thinks the same is for that hot blooded chocha he had such a great time with in DR. so he immediately begins planning his next trip down there and in order for his next trip to be a bit more personal and he doesn't feel like a total loser he figures, 'hey why don't i keep in contact with her and help her out a bit and when i get down there in 2-3 months (whenever) i can hit that again and see my little 25 year old girlfriend.'

so instead of having to put any effort into the relationship, ie learning spanish, learning anything about her as a person and her culture, etc- he starts forking over the dollars...

and she is more than willing to take free room and board from some guy she might have to spend a few nights with here and there.

so both are getting something out of the situation.

but as with any relationship in any country- the only way to get a good relationship is to put in the work. that means if you're stateside you do not begin to shower your gringa girlfriend with gifts and lavish dinners. because its not warranted.

no woman's heart anywhere in the world can be bought at any price. women and men can be bought- but the heart cannot.

its just that often times the viejo gringo is kidding himself if he thinks his money is going for what he thinks its going for 100% of the time.

but why should he care really ?? if he can visit a country like DR and spend some time with a gorgeous hottie he has absolutely zero chance with in the real world- why does he kid himself???

Unbelievably I agree 100% with Liam1 and AZB. If you resist the urge to give them money to go (and even resist the urge to pamper them to death when you are with them - for the first several months at least), they will come calling. If they really care about you and you want quality time and a relationship, the ones who only want money won't waste their time and effort on someone who sends them home with nothing. Some (tigueres and tigeras) will hold out for several months thinking they can break you, but if they eventually fail, if they are not with you for love, they will move on.

If you find yourself spending money to sustain a relationship it is because you have to and not because you were trick into doing so. This whole poor gringo done wrong by a slick Dominican is just silly. The reality is that there aren't a lot of young, attractive financially viable Dominicans waiting around to jump in the sack with a tourist on vacation. Most gringo tourists don't have the necessary qualities to pull a Dominican that passes Hillbilly's rules.

Why some or most people that travels to a country, let's say Dominican republic, have the ideology that just because they have some money to spend, the local girls ( young and hot ones) have to be willing to do whatever the tourist pleases, e.g have sex all the time; when in their countries the same girls may not give them the time of the. Of course they want something, so do you, get it through your tick skull. give and receive, receive and give. And do not tell me that you are that good looking and wealthy, because if you were, you wouldn't give them the time of the day while in your vacation, since I believe that you can do way better in your country or date dominicanas of your own level. my two cents and 1/2.

all dominican "hood" girls are not created equal. there are a ton who will do anything for LOVE. yes, love. if theres one thing i learned being raised there is that women keel over all the romanticism. they want to be loved. most will take you for a fool if you are a gringo but others will stay true to you and be the best wife you could imagine because they are raised to serve their men and put up with anything for love. it takes all kinds to make the world go 'round.

i believe you cant be fooled if you dont want to be. if you are meeting these girls at resorts or the beach they are only there for money. they are there to chase gringos. if you are meeting them in their own everyday dominican, gringo-free environment, you will find the "real" ones.

Sometimes even the good ones get ruined by the very people around them.

Once it gets around the ol' campo that Zubeldia or Altagracia from Villa Baina is dating Morris Karloff from the good ol' US of A, that's when her friends and relatives start coaching her on what to say to get money and gifts.

All of a sudden Miss Campesina 2009, who's only seen running water when her hut gets flooded from a storm, is asking for the latest iphone and breaking it two weeks later just so she can ask for another one.

yes, many only care about money but i know too many good girls that remain good even when made "offers". if you do not know how or where to find them thats another thing entirely.
