Yes definitely wrong to stereotype as anywhere in the world, as I have met many dominicans that are stand up and sincere.
But then again, truth be told, the country unfortunatley does have a high populous that also matches the OPs description ...and those characters, yes- its unlike anything I have seen, tambien.
