Let me know when you've had enough since you are going to forget about the guy I see no point in all the usual ramblings. You'll find the same discussion all over Mars/Venus.

I hope you hang out here on DR1, read all there is so that if you return to the DR you'll be armed and ready for maybe a real Prince. Do get out of the resort and see how Dominicans are and how they live. It'll be a nice experience.

While is true that the sankies have gave us a bad reputation, why do you all guys put every Dominican in the same basket, as a moneydriven whores. In every country of the world there are players trying to skim out money of clueless lonely people, but that doesn't mean that is fair to stereotype EVERYBODY from that country as a moneyhunger POS.

Every time somebody come here asking for advice the answer is the same, nevermind if the guy they met comes from a good family, is always the same answer: Don't lose more time, he is only after money/green card, bla bla bla. I am getting really offended by that situation and what is sad is that respected members of the forums get in this same practice. I am about to start calling the Mars/Venus forum as the Dominican guys/girl trashers, the place where everybody goes to talk bad about Dominicans.

Yes there are a lot of sankies out there in the DR, but please don't stereotype us all in the same mold. It is like if somebody mention: Dominican! the answer is: RUN!

I'm sorry if you have been offended. Most of us know very well that not all Dominicans are sankies. Please read the original post and as a Dominican male offer this girl some advice as if she was your sister. This fellow told her that he was called up by the army and he will not be able to contact her in any way. Does this sound right to you?

i know of a professional army guy in DR who works as a bodyguard. he gets his army wages plus bodyguard wages and he pays few thousand pesos to his supervising officer for "special assignment" - that is one that allows him to work all day every day as bodyguard.
i am sure he has to report in barracks every now and then but generally he is free to do as he pleases.
i do not thing that dominican army is all that strict...

im a dominican too and i get offended when people around here try to make dominicans look so bad..EVERY where you will find good and bad people...and Sankies?? Sankettes?? u will find them everywhere just with a diferent name.

Calm down your living up to your name. You have just done the same thing, lumped us all into the same basket. We are not saying that all Dominicans are the same anymore than all the xpats are the same, just that if it seems like something too good to be true then it probably is.

You just need to be careful in the following situations.
Hookers you meet in the bar
Animation workers at resorts = sankes/sanketts = request for visa.
Military dating foreigners not normal.
Police dating foreigners not normal.

Not all bad but just be careful. Not the same in the home country for the military and police because they make a whole lot better money there, here a cop makes 5k a month. not sure on lower level military, but on paper not a whole lot.

Actually I see it slightly differently - the place where some foreigners trash themselves, although they might not realise it. I mean if you had a personal relationship or emotional problem would you publically post it for comment from a bunch of strangers the qualities of whom you do not know? Would you??? Might there be some inexperienced judgement here? The same path which leads a woman to choose a wally, in any country I hasten to add, and then make a public announcement about it to what could be, potentially, another group of wallies......... And then, in many cases, turn round & berate the people who try to help - not talking about the OP here, who to her credit has spotted some inconsistencies in her man's story and can extrapolate.

I can understand questions to do with visas, job info to help a boy or girlfriend, that sort of thing..........but the emotional & personal stuff? And then those posts which are proud announcements of 'I've found my own special sanky' when there are loads of decent Dominicans.

I think the posts from some people with problems tell us much about their inability to handle the normal ups and downs of relationships and this somewhat strange IMHO need to publicise things by posting.

Question: how many posts do we get from Dominicans posting personal relationship problems they are having with foreigners? That's a genune question because I'm not in the Mars/Venus forum often enough to notice.
