Dominican Airforce/Army? Or have any advice for me?

Not all bad but just be careful. Not the same in the home country for the military and police because they make a whole lot better money there, here a cop makes 5k a month. not sure on lower level military, but on paper not a whole lot.

Who is going to the extremes here?? Don't you read the threads here?? every answer is the same: Run away from a Dominican, he wants your visa/money.

And tell me? why is a military dating a foreigner not normal?? Do you think that foreigners are ugly in our eyes? I for one I'm crazy about blond girls, and a lot of foreigners are blondes. A lot of Dominicans likes to be with a blanquita, ojos azules. A guardia may be poor, but they are really disciplined individuals with a mindset really different than a Sanky. As I said, stop putting everybody in the same basket, we are not all sankies.

What you have to do in this country is learn the game, as you would in any other part of the world. Why is that foreigners like AZB and Badpiece never come to this forum begging for help? because they learned the DR game and are playing it very well. They will never be fooled by any cuero, and if they do get fooled, they will just laugh about it as a good loser and put the fault where it belongs, to the hooker and them, not to every Dominican living in earth.

No way, are you saying that there are some Dominicans, men and women that try to fool forgeiners because they don't know the game? So tell me amigo how do we educate naive people this game you talk about?

No one has ever blamed every Dominican on earth but some of these stories you have to admit are pretty see through.

How about giving them advice while not denigrating the entire country in the process amiga?? In every part of the world everybody knows that any women who goes alone to a bar aren't wife material, but they keep falling for that here, and then when the sh1t hits the fan they start to blame every Dominican breathing. Will any of those foreigners date a jobless guy or girl in their home country?? or will they marry some girl who went to bed in the same night they met in their home country?? If you do the mistake here, then don't start calling foul in every Dominican.

You can't unless they want to be able to learn. And there is a difference between the naive and those with inner desperation/lack of self esteem/call it what you will. The naive youngster can grow & learn to be less naive but for those in the latter group it isn't so much a 'learning' exercise, more of a make whole again situation. They have to do some major repair work on themselves before any down-to-earth messages will make sense or be heard. And it wouldn't really matter in which country the 'game' is being played because it isn't really about the game, it is about what makes the foreigner incapable of seeing it. And that is why to the rest of us some of the stories, as you rightly say Anna, are easy to see through. As they would be in Ulan Bator, Ouagadougou or St. Leonards on Sea.

well did not notice any extremes on mine but maybe I missed it. On the military part, was mainly talking about the lower ranks, they don't have the money to be taking the foreigners out, and neither do the police, I mean come on they are working every other day, and making 5k a month. lower rank military don't know their wage range, but as a general on paper only makes about 50k a month, i don't imagine a corporal or Sargent is making a whole lot.

Now will agree that there is a tendency after you get burnt to paint everyone with the same brush. But its not true and most of the old timers on the board know that. Most of the people that hit the Mars Venus threads have been with certain types, and yes those get lumped together,

He got called up? Where did he get called up to? The Dominican Republic (Not the Dominican) at one time had a small contingent of military personnel deployed abroad as per NATO. Other then military officers, and Dominican commandos going overseas for training I do not have a clue what he means when he told you he got "called up".

He got his Colonel's son to contact you. What is he, a General? How the heck can he get his boss's son do anything for him?

He doesn't know his schedule? If he is military as he claims, he KNOWS his schedule.

Take advice from the many long time members here. Most ( not all ) of them live here in the Dominican Republic (not the Dominican).

I live here. Please take my advice. Come down, enjoy the beautiful island of Hispaniola and it's many treasures. Falling in love with a game playing sankie is not one of them.

Universities. Great place to find a motivated Dominican man (if you are a woman) or a woman (if you are a man). Just as it would be the same in Scotland or anywhere else you might be from. You are not going to have much luck finding decent people hanging around a bar, or an animation playboy at an all inclusive hotel. Sankies hang out in bars, car washes, hotels and the beaches. Try UTESA in Santiago and find yourself a medical student. Good Luck!
