Probably one of the more important issues is your shoe size...
If you want women, women will want you. However do not think ANY ofthem will love you for WHO you are. They will love your WHAT you are....
A few years down the line, with you own thing going, when you meet some poeple in society, meet and greet, then you might find a wonderful young lady.
FYI, I have young ladies in my classes at the university that are barely 5', and would knock you socks off, but they won't do the mambo until they really get to know you...
And 30+ and 18/19 here is more than doable...

HB, don't get the boy too excited, he might hurt himself.

JSM you sound suspiciously like a cousin of my wife...even he initials match (very interesting)...anyhow I would doubt the guy I know has any interest in moving to The DR so is probably not Jason...Anyhow if you consider yourself short at 5' 7"" then you have some confidence issues, because to me that's not THAT short (remember most women are only about 5' 4"" or so. Either way I don't see this being an issue at all in The DR as long as you project yourself in a confident manner (which means never talking about this to a woman and acting like you're 7 feet tall).
A bigger problem could be getting taken advantage of...so read a lot of the Mars / Venus section here to get a good understanding of how things work and what to avoid. Once you get a hot looking woman don't think for a minute that's as good as it's going to get for you, because there are a lot more where she came from...
Mangu(lina) you hit the nail on the head BTW.
I'm going back to college with professor HB as soon as I retire...

Some of you guys are harsh. Despite that I love this forum. Anyway, I got my question answered. Don't worry guys, I am not a fool. I re-read my post, and if I could post everything over, I would use different words and sentences. I wasn't able to express myself well in my posts. Thanks guys for your feedback even if it was harsh. Most likely, I will not be posting again. I liked it when I was just a lurker.

jsm, dont take it too hard, the people here do not mean you any harm. We just have to give it to you as real as it gets, and in the Dominican Republic you will see and or live some pretty crazy things. A lot of people here speak from years of experience and every day life on the island. like a lot of people said here, stop worrying about things, dont internalize anything, just enjoy what you are planning to do and keep your eyes open. This forum is a great tool for all newcomers and seasoned veterans!
lots of it does make for good reading, just dont take it the wrong way. Remember you are living your life, make the most of it and see if any advice from here can do you good, dont worry about if the posts are harsh...

Good luck.

If you found the posts harsh, then with respect you are not yet quite ready for the DR. Bear in mind I have only just read this tonight & some posts mights have been deleted due to unsuitability/offensive language etc. But if what is left appears harsh to you, then work on yourself & your confidence level a bit more, before moving here. The reason is that if a few harsh posts can send you back to lurking, your nature is probably too placatory and if this is in evidence, you could become a target to be taken advantage of in real life in the DR. Your altitude is immaterial but if it is important to you, then you might let it become an issue. It won't be to anyone else.

Shorty
Lambada, your advice is spot on !!!
To the OP, nicknames are very often given to people here based on physical attributes, like Fatty, Darkie, Shorty etc … and by culture, are not meant to be offensive, nor taken as offensive.
If you think a nickname like Shorty will deplete your confidence and send you into an emotional tizzy, take Lambada’s advice and wait a bit.
My nicknames here usually include a combination of Fatty and Shorty, and I’m not phased by it one bit. I find it funny.
