Anyone got info on the Puerto Plata merengue festival?

Hi,

Has anyone got information on the Puerto Plata merengue festival as I am interested in going?

Is their a dedicated website and a programme of events?

What are the exact dates that it runs on? What times of day do things happen?

Is it worth going? Should I book a hotel in the area for a night? If so what day and any suggested hotels?
