I too am headed for Sosua. I don't know much about the Voramar. Was it guest friendly? How far is it from the large supermarket in Sosua?
Thanks

Back home again from Sosua
I arrived at the Voramar and they didn't have the apartment I had requested and they confirmed to me before I left. They wanted me to stay in the one I had been in the year before which I didn't like very much.
They had a long term resident in the one I wanted and didn't tell me that until I got there and wanted me to take a two bedroom for the price of a one bedroom.
I stayed in one of there hotel rooms the first night and the next morning rented a car and moved into a new beautiful studio apartment. It was in the Residencia Mariza complex which is just after Kite Beach on the way into Cabarete. Fifty feet to a beautiful swimming pool. A 100 yard walk to Cabarete beach. It was a great spot, $50 a day.
The only problem staying in Cabarete I found was driving back from Sosua at night. Day time driving was fine.
Night driving in the D.R. is something to be avoided if at all possible.

How was the Hotel room?
I am coming to Sosua the third week in January. I currently have reservations at Rocky's for 4 nights and at Club Residencial for 7 nights. I recently had a change in my schedule and will be able to leave 3 days sooner if I can find a resonable place to stay. I am considering Voramar because it will be in a different area, but if service is bad I may just stick with my original itinerary.

Generally the Voramar is good. There rooms are good. I just prefer apartments.
The staff is very friendly and a nice pool side bar. It is a bit out of the way but that has its advantages also. Henk that managers it is a great guy. They are finishing now another 6 or so new apartments so I am sure I will stay there again until I get my own place.
the Hotel is everything friendly, check there website.
