Beautiful rooms would be a start--I was curious what else you might have seen that would be positive. It's a funny thing about timesharing--every body who actually looks into says "Hey those condos were great." But there is some other aspect (or two or three) of the offer that makes them stop.

Based on the context of this thread, I am guessing that it's because the whole project is doubtful. That would give me pause too.

But perhaps they are still selling their way out of a problem--money solves a lot of things.

I do object to kneejerk blanket condemnations of timesharing though--there are successes (yes, for the consumer too) in the DR. This may become one--and may not.

But that's why I asked what else you saw that was positive. Just probing.

I am not interested in time shares really so I was not really interested in much else than seeing the hotel. They did have a lot of extra charges etc that just don't fit the 'independant style' of traveler that I am. I do two or three trips a year mostly to visit family members in the U.K and N.Z. so a time share does not suit my needs.

I am planning on buying a place in the Sosua area within the next year so that is my requirement hopefully.

I understand the appeal of Sosua--despite the sleaziness, there is something about that town that gets to me too. I think it's the tree-shaded streets--and of course the beach. But it is a little like the Phoenix--it seems to keep trying to rise from the ashes.

But the A-I's are a terrible burden to overcome and it appears that sleaze is the only thing that most people can think of to fight the A-I's. Damn shame. I wish I had some brilliant ideas to reverse the ho-mogenization of the town.

In fact it's a little like Christmas there all year round -ho ho ho.
