Cabarete Accommodation - Recommendation?

Looks like we will not be joining our friends at the Ocean Manor Resort now but with all the research I've done about the Cabarete area I'm intrigued & would still very much like to visit.

I am tossing up between an AI resort (Viva Wyndam Tangerine is top of the list right now) or doing a weekly rental hotel/condo. Any suggestions for reasonably priced accommodation for 2 adults & 1 child (13)?? Pool is a must and beachfront would be nice but not mandatory if it's not far away. Doesn't have to be too fancy, just clean & comfortable.

Also looking for information on horseback riding in the area. My daughter & I both ride at home and won't manage a week without riding at least once or twice. Is there anywhere that allows you to ride on the beach??
