Default Cabarete- lodging, airport transfers, activities- please help!

Hey there. Am going with my partner for a long weekend in March to Cabarete.
I'm planning this myself (it's a surprise for him!) and needed some advice on a few things.

LODGING:
Of these two, which would you recommend:
Bungalow at the Hotel Kaoba (www.hotelkaoba.com)
or room for 2 in the beach house at the Casa Blanca? (www.casablancacabarete.com)?

We basically want something that is clean, close enough to restaurants/bars/beach to walk home safely at night, and does not cost a lot of money. Both of these places seem relatively close to city center and have very reasonable prices. Any advice welcome!

ACTIVITIES:
besides kiteboarding, windboarding, and surfing--what are other activities you 'must try' while there? I love horseback riding along the beach--worth it to do it here? How is the snorkeling/scuba-- can you do it there or will they take you out past Sosua? How far is it to the caves for abseiling--and can newbies do this?

AIRPORT TRANSFER: We're flying into Santiago, about 1 1/2 hours away from Cabarete. In terms of getting a taxi/ride to Cabarete, is this something we should arrange beforehand, or can we easily catch a taxi at the airport?

I've been quoted that for a hotel transfer it's US$60 each way, and if you catch a taxi at airport, it will be around $70-80 each way. Does this sound about right? If any of you have the number of a driver that will make this transfer for a good price, please pass it along!

Thanks a lot.

We've stayed at Kaoba Many times it's reasonably priced, teh staff is very helpful and it's within walking distance to everything. We highly recomend it. You can get a taxi at the airport. The rates are fixed and they just had an increase. I think $70 to $80 Usd is right. You can arrange for any side trips you want when you get there. Have a nice trip. Good luck. If you have any other question we can help with PM me.
