Default Las Terrenas

I keep hearing about LT being a new place on the way up, beautiful, etc. Never been there, so I am looking for some feedback on it. I hear a lot of Europeans but no Americans. Any thoughts.

As a place to invest or to visit?
Las Terrenas is nice, lots of French owned smaller independent hotels, maybe the best resaurants outside Santo Domingo and Santiago (?), and very beautifull places close by, several secluded beaches, great mountain scenery, and the Salto Limon. And it feals a bit less as the end of the world than Las Galeras.

Much of the recent excitement about LT is due to the new international airport destined to open in November. This has brought many investors and hotel construction to the area.

Yes the new airport, the new hi-way from Santa Domingo, and the new golf course, all things that we're held up by Hippo, are all being worked on and will stimulate the area! Ilived there 4 years ago and went back for a visite about 5 months ago. There was a lot of new businesses and much construction going on! There also seemed to be a lot more English speaking people in town!

LT has been developping fairly well in the last ten years, in such a way I would not have thought it would.

Like everywhere infrastructure has not kept pace and traffic on the main street ("High Street") is loud, polluting and chaotic at times.

The expat population is mainly European (French, Italian, German) who run hotels, shops, bars and boutiques, as well as bakeries (3), butcher's (1) and offer skilled workers' services.
The number of Americans is still small.

Punta Bonita and Cosón are very nice beaches.

Land there sells for more than 150 US$/sqm...
