I cant tell you about Playa Dorada specifically but i'm guessing its the same as Sosua everywhere is being shut down at 12 from sunday through thursday and at 2 friday and sat, if you are on the streets after these times expect to get stopped by police or military and asked what you are doing. Even the disco in the Casa Marina ai in Sosua is being shut down at 12.

I heard that the 24 hour bar at Fun Tropical is not affected.
I would assume the disco is also okay.
This was from Bobfromcanada at Debbie's.

I would like to know about the casinos, Mangu, and Hemingway's which are probably affected.

I am surprised to hear that Casa Marina is affected since the disco apparently is not open to non-guests.

I hope this nonsense gets rectified soon.

most AI's are not affected and exempted from the laws, now there will probably be police around to try to get bribes or extort places.

See they have done this all wrong cause they are going to turn a great place into a boring one.... I wont go back if I cant party after 12. It would be good to know how mangu and hemmingsway, roadway crazy moon etc etc are going to cope

Hemingways, Mangu etc are all effected by the new laws.....they have to close at 12 on a week night and 2 on the weekend....

Personally I think it's ridiculous.....many people come on holiday to party at night - they don't come to go to bed by 12. I don't think this new law will last long in Playa Dorada as it's surely going to have a negative impact on tourism. The problem is that if they make an exception to the rule for the Playa Dorada complex then every night will be like the weekends used to be in terms of the place being full of Dominicans.....if they can't drink and party till late in town then they will all flock to Playa Dorada instead......which will also be a problem.

Let's see what happens.

Well this way the police will know where the concentration of locals/sankies/trouble makers are instead of searching the city on a larger scale. But I hope this is not the case with AI's, it will affect tourism largely, and in return businesses will suffer. They need to come up with a better solution to this problem. I am hearing conflicting stories on this too. My friends from Santo Domingo say AI's will not be affected. I will be getting in touch with my friend who's in management at Iberostar Costa Dorada to find out first hand. Keep you posted.

I called yesterday with my friends in Gran Ventana and Fun Tropical
In this moment the hotels are not affected, but all public places in playa dorada follow the rule. Roadway is during the week open from 11.00pm to midnight. I agree that this is not THE solution, but they have to start somewhere. For tourism it is no good but all the local people from Puerto Plata I spoke to are very happy with this new rule (so far). I expect in a couple of weeks they will see it different when people in bars and disco's got fired. Managers and owners from bars in Sosua came together last Sunday and are writing a letter to the president to tell him that this is not good for employment in the tourist area's.
