What's the lowdown on the Viva Wyndham Tangerine?

I've heard good and bad things on this hotel and I am starting to get worried since I am coming over in 2 days with my family.

What can you tell me about the place?

This is neither a 5 star hotel nor a dump so it would not be unusual to hear good and bad things about the hotel. Overall, there are more good things than bad. The rooms are decent sized although there are little flaws such as the bathrooms having no counter or shelf space. The grounds are well maintained. The pool is good sized. You can walk along the beach and be in the heart of Cabarete in 10 minutes. The shows are mixed; some good and some just okay. The food is not as good as some of the other AI's but AI food is generally not top notch. The service is generally good. Many people on tripadvisor complained about an odor around the grounds but we never experienced it. The spa is good and low priced especially for a resort. If you keep your expectations realistic and not let some of the little flaws overcome you, you'll enjoy the stay.
