I saw the site about 2 weeks ago. Yes the wave pool is quite huge and coming along nicely. Most of the rooms are gutted and work is progressing.

My understanding is the date to re open is early December! I will check it out again later this week and let you know. Maybe I can sneak a few pictures too.

Hotel employees say that work is progressing as expected for first guest to arrive Dec 1.
Employees most appreciate gifts of US dollars.

Tell me what a "splash park" is and then I will find out! IT is very much a family resort they are creating. I am looking forward to seeing it when it is done.

By the way, bring school supplies (not paper it is too heavy) lots of pencils, erasers, stickers etc. We can get it to the schools.

hi,
a splash park is not a pool but a area that has lots of water fountains, sprays, tubes that spray water from the floor. they are great for the little ones.
thanks for the tip about school supplies, i will look out for things to bring.
will coloured pencils, pencils, felt tips, pens, rubbers and pencil sharpeners be ok.
thanks

Hi Planner,

I take it from what you have said you are based in the DR.
There are many of us I guess who are very excited about travelling to the HVGB. This is the first time my family and I have been to the Caribbean and can't wait. We would love it if you could keep us up to date on the progress of the refurb and photos would be a fabulous bonus. Look forward to your next post.

Default travel to Holiday Village

Hi,

I'm scheduled to stay at Holiday Village Golden Beach on Dec 28th. I'm hoping things will be in good shape by then. I've read a lot of reviews from people who stayed there when it was the Jack Tar resort and there were lots of complaints so hopefully the reno has solved them. I also noticed that a lot of people complained about mosquitos and recommended bringing some kind of repellant. Is this a concern at this time of year (December)? I noticed that people are talking about bringing school supplies. I have no problem bringing school supplies with me but what do you do with them when you get there to make sure they get into the right hands? I've also booked a day at Ocean World to swim with the dolphins. Is this place as great as it looks on it's web site?
