nice hotel in Santiago?

can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Santiago--just for one night. Will be travelling from Puerto Plata to Tenares and then back to Santiago in same day so would want the hotel in close proximity to where the bus changes. Thanks.

I stayed at the following hotel and I feel like it is one of the best I have stayed in in the country. They also have a nice restaurant on the 7th floor I think and I had some pretty good lobster there a few years ago. It is a bit pricey - RD3600.

You can do Hotel Colonial on Salvador Cucurrullo Street near 30 de Marzo. Best least expensive place around. Victor speaks English and service is good.

Alberto's Suites and Aparta Hotel is near, but not too near the Monument. Also inexpensive.

No matter where you stay it is a DR$90-DR$100 peso taxi ride to the bus depot for Metro or Caribe Tours.

I wouldn't classify Hotel Colonial as a "nice" hotel.

But if someone is on a very low budget (under $20), it is as you said, "Best least expensive place around".

This maybe a stupid question for some but as a women I think not. What hotels in Santo Domingo are nice, safe, quiet and not overly price? Im leaving in Feb
