Default Soy/Rice Milk

Hi,

We are travelling with our 2 year old who is allergic to cow's milk. Do the grocery stores sell rice or soy milk in Cabarete?

Thanks!

Playero is the big supermarket near the stoplight on the highway as it passes by Sosua. My wife buys soy milk occasionally. It is approximately RD$100 per box.

It is usually on the top shelf of the shelf row opposite the cold cases that are against the wall.

They (Playero) carries both Rice and Soy milk and often in several brands. We use it all the time.

This is great news...saves us from lugging it down in the suitcase. Thank you for all your replies!

You'll also find soy products at the Coastal C- Store in Sosua

I looked at the milk shelf in Playero last night. Soy milk is about RD$102 and rice milk is about RD$120/box. Presently there are a couple of brands or types of each, but that isn't always the case. Comes in boxes that do not require refrigeration until opened.

Default stay away from soy...

I've mentioned it before, and will reiterate it again, soy is not a health food. On the contrary, soy is an endocrine disruptor. There's extensive research on the subject, available through google... Soy has even been associated with the recent outbreak of autism in the US, which currently affects 1 out 150 children (and in some states, like New Jersey, 1 out of 100) (compared to the historical prevalence of Down's syndrome, which affects between 800 to 1000 births)....

My daughter is allergic to milk also. She has been using soy milk for 8 years ... no autism to be found. However, my brother's two sons are autistic, they drink cow's milk, which has been linked to autism. I think anything processed can be "linked" to an illness.
