La Sirena in Puerto Plata

I was at La Sirena in Santo Domingo a couple of weeks ago. Great store....lots of stuff and great prices!

Not as a restaurant I'm afraid - I used to love Maria's 'Swiss Potato mix/mash' with a plate of veal(pork) or lemon chicken on the side!!

They have turned the downstairs into 4 more apartments, but James & Maria are still there running the place! ~ Grahame.

last time i heard they were negotiating with wallmart, i wonder if the sale will bring any changes to the set up of the shop...
but the deal in POP is done, la sirena (wallmart) is coming!
hopefully POP will move into 20th century....

Whatever the price and name (La Sirena/Walmart)...... this is great news!
POP shopping is so limited and it would be such an improvement to have a better selection without having to go to Santiago.

Forgive me if I don't positively salivate at the thought of a Walmart coming to Puerto Plata................... but I do have a question: given the location where is the parking going to be?

Next thing you know we will have a McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut, KFC, Applebees, 7-11s, Dunkiin Doughnuts, Driveup dry cleaners, Safeways, Jiffy lubes etc on every corner.

Now I left the US why???????????

I doubt it will look and feel totally like Walmart.... and honey we already have Burger King....

I too think that price is RD not US $......... or just incorrect period..... Can the poster let us know the source please???
