Excursions from Puerto Plata

We're a group of 9, we would like to do some excursions from our hotel Oasis Marien. We're interested in going to Santiago, seeing cigar factories, seeing the countryside, various things, we aren't really interested in doing tourist trap kind of excursions. We'll be in DR from January 24th to February 7th.

Cibao Valley Tour
Travel through the beautiful Dominican Alps to Santiago de los
Caballeros, the second largest city in the Dominican Republic located in
the Cibao Valley , the most fertile valley in the Caribbean. There you will
visit a cigar factory and the famous Monument of Santiago. Then we come
back along the tourist highway where we will cross the mountain range,
and you can take pictures of beautiful landscapes and visit the waterfalls
on jeep. Jeep trip and lunch included.

I would recommend the catamaran trip from POP to LUperon. I believe the cat leaves Playa Dorada beach around 9 and arrives in Luperon around 3, then they bus you back to POP. A nice day on the water and a great view of the beautiful coast. Also, you have to take a trip in the Teleferico cable car to the top of the mountain. Great views of the area.

definatly the outback safari, even though may feel touristy it will make you see the culture as well as the country
