Ai?

Gentlemen .... was wondering what AI resort you would suggest in the Puerto Plata area .... i will be making a few trips to sousa so thats important to me any suggestions ....

what not just stay in sosua ?? Playa Dorada is where some good ai's are located..

Casa Marina in Sosua. very convenient location, reasonable packages often available and decent reviews, here on DR1 and many other sites.

of course i'd suggest skipping the whole AI thing and renting a condo in Sosua, like at El Neptuno for example....but that's just me

There are 3 RIU's on the west side of POP. RIU Merengue, Bachata, and Mambo. I believe you have access to all 3 when staying there. But to get any where from there requires a taxi. OH, there is also Costa Dorado which has 2 AI's, it is on the west side of POP along with Playa Dorado which has 14 AI's.

If you are convinced to stay in and AI - in Puerto Plata area - tell us more about what you are looking for and then we can recommend something.

For example - is price more important then quality - do you want an onsite disco - great food - beach location..... etc etc.

If you insist on an AI, Victorian House in Sosua is a beautiful, though somewhat pricey hotel. We have stayed there a number of times.

I just recently tested some of the highest ranking AI's around Puerto Plata (not Sosua). I found that as for food quality and variety, the Iberostar on Costa Dorada beat all the others. The only maybe questionable thing may be the decoration styling of the bed rooms.
Next was Marien Coral next to it and then the Riu's on the West side of Puerto Plata.
