Rocky,
Did you really just call me 'boy'? I actually laughed at that. How 'bout I work on my perception problem, and you work on remembering that over the internet, no one can see you wink?
Point on the 1K vs 10K issue is that 1K, for free, is a good thing. People with laptops could congregate at public areas within the 1K and take advantage of the service. Given the price of internet in the area, that's a good thing. I don't think the plan is or was to give free internet to the whole of Sosua, but rather to provide access to those who would struggle to pay for monthly internet service. Of course, those same people would have to be able to pay for a laptop...

The point I was making is that you accused us of complaining.
We were in fact, answering the OP's question.
I'm an ole' man now, so I guess you're still a boy to me, lucky you.
One day you'll be old and ugly like me too.

The 'plan' is to announce free internet for some area. The 'plan' is NOT to have working free internet for some area. Please look at this self-same 'plan' Santo Domingo and see the 'results' in action.
What we have here with this administration, is a massive collaboration to make headlines - instead of a massive collaboration to govern a country. (Uhm, I've just realized there are a few other countries like this too)

I don't understand.
The price of internet in Sosua is too high?
I for one think there is nothing wrong with the price of internet in Sosua.
Compare the prices from this web site....you may find the prices are actually quite good in Sosua.

I believe the plan is changing as we speak.
The folks involved are looking at it from a different angle now and discussing the possibility of dumping the El Batey tourist wifi thing, and concentrating on Los Charamicos.

A friend living on the road toward the casino in Sosua told me that he picks up an unknown
wi-fi signal 5/5. It's off & on. Could they be trying something out? Anyone else pick this up.

When I last spoke to Yohanny, he was still contemplating the original idea of gearing the service to tourists.
After discussing it a bit, he seemed to like the idea of focusing on getting it to students, and from the tone and content of that article, that's what he appears to have done.
Kudos to him.

I think it is a big step in the right direction, and I, too, thank Sr DeLancer and everyone else involved with their project.
