Default Hotel Casa Cayena

Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Casa Cayena in Sosua? I will be staying there next month for a few days. Any opinions good or bad about the hotel would be appreciated. I have heard mixed things about the place from a friend that stayed there briefly in February.

Thanks to all in advance!!!!

I stayed there a few days back in February 2007. The rooms were ok. I think I paid $60 a night. The hotel is guest friendly and sells alcohol and beer during the curfew hours for guests. (for that 2:00 am drink, hehe)

Next time I go to Sosua, I want to try Rocky's.

Default Casa Cayene -- very loud

i stayed there a few weeks ago for one night and moved --- although they were nice people and the room was nice, it was too loud for my taste ... car alarms going off all the time, the electricity went out, roosters, motor cycles, etc. .. i haven't seen other comments on how noisy it seems to be in the DR ... however, i don't see how any one can sleep if they are close to a road in the city ...

i think most people deal with the noise. the only places i've never heard noise is the all-inclusives. i think the trick here is to get a room away from the street where there is less noise...

Default Stayed there many times

Casual atmosphere. Great people. Good price, includes breakfast.

Bar closes at 11 pm so normally does any noise, except for the rooster. Which I find OK because it reminds me I am on vacation.

Say hello to Willy, John (Juan) and his mother Juana for me.

It's a decent hotel, with clean rooms and beds that aren't super hard like some of the other hotels/resorts in the area (although very firm beds seem to be popular throughout latin america).

Nice, helpful staff, I had no issues at all.

If you're staying longer than 2-3 days, I'd recommend renting a condo or something more comfortable, but it's ok for short stays.

Good luck and have fun.

Thank you everyone for your reviews/opinions of Casa Cayena. I am looking forward to my stay there in just 2 1/2 weeks.
