We made almost all of our meals there & ate just outside our rooms beside the pool. The poolside rooms have a little semi-private area with table & 2 chairs which is nice.

The last time was in March & we stayed in Studio B. It was Semana Santa so not too much to choose from by the time we booked.

I would suggest Studio A as Studio B has 2 single beds to push together (wasnt the ideal honeymoon suite!! but it was ok). Both Studio A & B are pool side and quite functional.

I have to admit that we are pretty relaxed people so we spent our days by the pool, playing cards & listening to music. We didn't venture too far except to wander along the main street or we spent a couple days at the main beach infront of the sans souci hotel.

The hotel also has free wifi if you have a laptop.

We love Cabarete for the atmosphere, beach, relaxation.
The disco's are ok if you are into that and Jose O'shea's is a great place to spend your evenings too.

I am sure there are others that can make some suggestions about what to do for day trips. The activecabarete website also has some good ideas.

thanks for sharing...greatly appreciated
did you find that by preparing your meals that is more economical than eating out?

Were you able to find all the goods you need to prepare your meals?

I love cooking with spices so I will bring some with me from Canada...like curry, garlic, basil, oregano, maple syrup to make crèpes....etc...

We are laid back also but we want to profit of the time to venture out and go different places....i heard about a ranch close by?...where we can go horseback riding?

they have almost everything including garlic and syrup (no pure)

i wasn't able to find basil but definitely dried oregano...

it is definitely more economical to cook yourself...many of the oceanside restaurants charge the same as you would pay at home & sometimes more.

there are always dominican restaurants which are more affordable places to eat as well.

i think we only ate out 2 times ever and cooked the rest at the room. once we ate at jose oshea's & paid over $50.00 for 2 pasta entrees & 2 presidente's...it was a nice dinner but not worth $50.00. the other time we ate at a dominican restaurant in the center of town across the street from the ocean. food was good & about 10$ including tip for both of us.

if you like to eat out & experience the different restaurants many of them have happy hours or special deals during the week...worth doing some research on that one! many have signs out in front on the main street with menu & price per person for the dinner.

try windchime in Cabarete, price are very low and you have everything you need.. kitchenette, tv, cable, air, laundry service, pool etc.. right across the street from the beach.
