What was the reason for that? No plate, insurance, helmet?? how could they take it if permits/papers are in order?
Could you share it with us?

Helmuts are required and ATVs are classified as a Motocicleta.

If you don't carry around a copy of the original paperwork they will tow. I was stopped on my friends Honda CBR929 and they were going to tow me if I didn't show them paperwork.

Local cops(policia) are corrupt and probably wanted a propina. I've met ATV riders in Santiago and they don't have problems. Just carry a copy of the paperwork.

Shoot! I was riding in Santiago quite few times without papers, helmet, license plate. I even stopped at red lights, front of Amet, and they didn't say a thing. I had no F-ing clue that they can take it from me.
The problem is I have to travel to SD to get the papers...

is it possible to rent an atv? i will be staying at the lifestyle crown villas in cofresi ni the beginning of may and unfortunately they wont allow me to rent a golf cart, so i thought the atv would be a good alternative.

does anyone know of a place to rent one? or even a golf cart?

thanks

On calle Dr. Rosen on the left side when you make a right on Pedro Clisante, in the little shopping strip(rent movies, salon, etc.) They have a large ATV, which I think is an automatic 4x4 for daily rent. They also have a dune buggy, 125 Yamaha Sports & a Honda CBR 1000.

BE FOREWARNED!!!! If you rent one of these bikes and you damage it or get it stolen, you will pay a high price.
