Fishing & Boat Charter
We have made several trips to Sosua in the past couple of years. My husband is a big fisherman and tries to go fishing everytime we visit. However, with the exception of one time, he has never caught anything. Either the boat had a very inexperienced crew (the skipper was about 9 years old) or the equipment was unreliable (meaning the boat almost sank!). We are bringing a group of friends with us down next week and I know the men will want to charter a boat. Is there a boat charter service that is really good that the men might actually bring some dinner home from?
Just trying to set up a nice day for the guys so we girls can have our own fun, too! thanks!

Mike's Marina in Punta Cana is great, by all reports I have heard and seen.
It's a little distance from Sosua, and would require some travel time, but it is well worth it, in my opinion. And it might give you girls some of that extra time to yourselves that you might enjoy.
Mike is honest and easy to deal with, and he knows a lot about fishing. He is also a real good guy, and I'm sure the guys will have fun and want to go back to fish with Mike on every trip to the DR.

Thanks for the info. I checked out his website and it does look very impressive. However, I've been told that Punta Cana is at least a 6 hour drive one way. Is that correct? I don't think they will want to spend quite so much time traveling back and forth. Hopefully, there are some closer options, but I will definately pass the info on and let the guys decide. thanks again!

Gone fishing
Has anyone ever dealt with "Gone Fishing" charter company. I see they are based out of Puerto Plata and had some good reviews on their own website (of course!). Just wondering if anyone had first hand experience with them.

Good company - a friend of mine does pick up and delivery transfers for them. I have been told by customers that they had a great time and took home fish too.

Victor has a 32' Chris Craft anchored right in Sosua Bay for charter.

I'm also looking to charter a boat on either August 7th or 8th. Who is Chris? Is that part of the same company?
Thanks for the help

Chris Craft is a make of boat, not a person.

There is a "high speed" deep sea boat working out of Rio San Juan. It's called Marlin Chaser. Two hours after stepping into the boat we were at the Silver Bank...a 45 mile trip that takes traditional deep sea boats a very long time (as in days). Fish for several hours and before sunset you are back at the hotel/villa bragging about the catch.
It's unique. Try it!
