My husband consulted with a few other doctors who didn't speak English. They have very good rates for locals and expats . We paid RD$500 for a short consultation. They're getting a state-of-the-art emergency care ambulance soon.
Excellent news.

Was the RD$500 price of the consultation without having local insurance?

That was the price of a consultation which resulted in scheduling surgery. Yes, the price was for expats who live here with no local insurance. About US$2,000 (again, for locals) for surgery with one night hospital stay. I understand that they have not yet completed signing up with all the ARS. If you have foreign insurance (which we do) prices may be higher but they will try to bill your insurance directly.

Centro Medico Cabarete, phone number is 809-571-4696

That is great news. If anyone knows what range of specialists will be working there, please let us know. And when they get their ambulance, we'd love to hear about that as well.
