Default Can you find vanilla beans anywhere???

After 5 years in the DR, I have yet to find a place to purchase vanilla beans...People tell me that vanilla grows on the island but they can't tell me where???does anyone know???

Is it particularly beans you need? I've only found vanilla pods here in Playero in the spice racks. The brand is 'Dani' with a glass jar and a yellow lid.

Thank you, yes I did mean pods I guess my french is showing.
I did see them at Playero but they seem to be imported, what I was wondering is are they grown on the island and if so where???

I thought they grow them in jarabacoa, but I may be wrong, I usually am lol
while I was typiing I found this- is it any use

I also think it is grown here. It is also very big money..Closely guarded and not available .
There might be a dry bean for sale in National. Santiago You buy them and gring them in its own bottle. If not there you can scout thru the Wholesale mkt areas. There are a few spice sellers.

Thank you for your info, I have been googling and have not found anything that confirms that the DR growes Vanilla.
Therefore I doubt that the Vanilla extract sold here is pure.
Specially at the price they sell it for.

I find them both at Mundo Atentico and at a stall in the market in Higuey. They sell in packs of 3 or 5 pods.
