Whilst I respect your "inside knowledge" and dont discredit it, I find it hard to imagine the "good" qualities you describe as going hand-in hand with anyone disturbed enough to carry out the acts of which he is accused. (yes, innocent until proven guilty but usually, where there is smoke, there is fire).

Inevitable that with the scrutiny they are now subject to in places like the US and Canada they move to new hunting grounds where the prey is more desperate and not as well informed. A bit like the cigarette companies.

the other guy was the commencement speaker, had millions of dollars.. and we all know stories of the parish priests, highly respected, well thought of... lots of these guys have a great facade.

I just want to clarify that I am not saying John is a "good" man, obviously he has been doing many very wrong things, that I 100% condemn.
I just say that for a couple of years, he gave us a great impression... Not that we knew each other a lot, but he was efficient in the charity works, and he had a good conversation... He seemed active, smart, good willing... That's the impression he gave us...
Of course, we all understood something was "rotten in Denmark", as he was openly homosexual, while being a Catholic priest... My belief is that you are either gay or a priest, but you should not be both...
While I knew him, I must say I never witness any relationship with young kids... But there was always 2 or 3 young men hanging around, behaving like "tigueres", maybe around 18 or 19 years old, I don't know...
So this is to make it clear that I am not posting here to make him look good. But neither to make him look worst that what he already is.
Until he was kicked out of Labadie, I was completely unaware of any pedophile behavior from John... I thought he was just gay... But then again, I didn't really spent time with the guy... We just happen to be at the same place, at the same time... Very few westerners, you know, so we socialized... When people told me, at first, I didn't believe it... I thought his ex-boyfriend was the one who spread this "rumor"... But obviously this was true...
I have no idea about that other guy in Cap-Haitien, as I don't live there full time.
I believe in Christian values, I believe Catholic hierarchy is wrong when forcing priests to remain in celibate. I believe the Protestants are doing a much better job, because their pastors are married and have kids ! (whenever there is a sex-scandal among protestants, it usually doesn't involve kids as much as Catholics...)
John should have been a protestant pastor and he should have married... I believe that would have relieved him of most ugly pulsions...

A paedophile is a paedophile. It has nothing to do with the fact that he is married and has children or not. He has ''ugly pulsions'' married or not. I presume you mean paedophile pulsions when saying ugly pulsions

Not to be a judge of this person as "god" is the only one who judges people...etc
This man preyed on innocent, uneducated, vulnerable, naiive, underage children, the fact that it was homosexual does not matter, its wrong full stop, may justice take its course,
