Default Fishing in Samana

Hello,
I will be in Samana next week and I am looking to purchase fishing equipment for my father in Law and myself here in New York. I need to know what kind of fish frequent the coast of Samana. I will be fishing from the coast line not from a boat. What kind of bait will I need and what size fish can I expect to catch in the area? If there are any experienced fishermen familiar with the area, please advise! Thanks so much.

Samana Bay is badly overfished by local fishermen using boats and nets. Kids and even some adults occasionally fish off docks using a line they hold in their hand, but their catch always very, very small.

Default Fishing equipment for Samaná

Here is what you need.

Stout boat
large compressor
Modern, high pressure harpoon gun

5 miles of stout cable
Explosive heads

And you fish for whales!!!!

NOT!

That bay has minnows, and that is about it.

Thanks for the reply. I guess Samana is not the best place to go fishing in!

Samana does have fish,...they're just not in the bay or on the bottom in nearshore waters. For more information, see the Sportfishing section in the Attractions menu of www.samanaonline.com or ask Robert about the sailfish we caught on Supe's boat a while back.
