Default snorkelling right off beaches

Hi there. I will be in Las Terrenas for a week in Jan. I'm wondering if there is good snorkelling directly off of any of the beaches there or if it is better to take a boat out and if so to where. Thanks a lot for any suggestions. Kim

Las Terrenas beach is quite big,(miles long) so it depends on where you go, but I have snorkeled from shore to reefs.
Bring bananas with you.
The fishies love them.

Snorkeling can be just fine, weather permitting... There are beautiful spots just before El Portillo... I usually go swimming there in the summer. In January, you shall pick up a sunny day (without a "cold front"), early morning, no wind...

Don't hesitate to wander around..

Check Las Terrenas on Google Earth, that will show you some good snorkeling spot...
