Travelling from Punta Cana to Samana

Hi there

We are travelling at the end of this week to Samana from Punta Cana by guagua. We have been told to take a guagua from

PC to Higuey (hourly)
Higuey to Miches (hourly)
Miches to Sabana de la Mar (3 daily)
Sabana to Samana (3 daily) or Ferry (3/4 daily)

Does anyone know of a more direct route (other than going all the way back to Santo Domingo!).
