Default North Coast - Salsa dancing/guest friendly hotel

I've booked a week's stay in Cabarete, but would like to stay in a different NC city on my way there, which probably leaves PP or Sosua.
I love to dance salsa - any recommended salsa joints?
Any upscale but 'guest friendly' hotels?
Thanks.

Salsa's not very common as compared to Merengue and Bachata.
I don't think that there are any actual salsa clubs, although some bars/discos will play it on occasion.

Can you recommend any relatively 'upscale' (modern/clean) non-AI in Sosua/PP or Cabarete?
'Small' over there usually invokes a more seedy image...
Price no issue.
Thanks.

grayw,
in cabarete, head to Voy Voy bar on the beach friday night. it's their latin night & they play probably 50% salsa, the rest bachata & merengue.

calamar bar/restaurant (next to onno's) plays latin music most nights.

latino lounge about 50 meters down the road into callejon across from ocean dream plaza plays latin music including some salsa fri/sat/sun nights. crowds are small friday nights... i don't know about sat/sun nights

adventurous? find a girl that dances salsa & take a taxi out to the disco in sabaneta (10 minute ride). true dominican disco, few tourists. probably 20% salsa played there. 60% bachata/merengue. 20% reggaeton

Here are a few in Sosua, in no particular order.

Thanks all.
I like the idea with the disco in sabaneta - road less traveled = often the most rewarding.

Salsa on the north coast - there are no salsa clubs as such. Almost all local clubs will play some salsa during the evening. Some play a little more and some less.

In Puerto Plata - La Canita seems to play more then any other club. And of course, if you are willing to "tip" the DJ you can get a few more!

If you dance international salsa you will have a hard time finding a dance partner here. They dance salsa differently then north americans.

If you need or want more info just ask.
