Default playa bonita - LT w/o car?

hi there,

we are considering a place on la playa bonita that seems very nice, but i am not familiar enough with the area to know if getting to/from LT wil be problematic i.e. at night), time consuming or expensive enough to justify renting a car while we are there. thanks again!

A car is a good idea, but if you're on a budget, renting a moped will do (if you're no more than 2)...

Take Squat advice, get a car, with a moped at night, you might not see that big pothole till is to late.

Definetely rent a car, or better yet, stay in Las Terrenas. Playa Bonita is OK but very far away from everything and not much to do at night. And as WebDev says, it's very tricky to try to manouver the road into town with all the gigundo pot holes and bumps.

There are two places I would stay in Las Terrenas - Playa Colibri or Hotel Alisei. Colibri is less expensive than Alisei but Alisei is much nicer and comfortable, and closer
to town (within walking distance). You can also ride the motoconchos for 20 or 30 pesos.

Good luck!

thanks for the advice everyone!

we are most likely renting a house from Individuelle Ferien ohne auf die Vorteile eines Hotelservices verzichten zu müssen!

and have a few nice options in playa bonita as well as in LT....

this is making me think that closer to LT might be better with a 15 month old in tow.

how long is the actual drive back to LT vs. time spent in transit with public transpo or a taxi?

thanks,

matt

Depending on the time of the day it can be difficult to get a taxi or even a concho at Punta Bonita.
(Rule: Conchos are abundant only when you don't need them.)
Present weather made the PB track a muddy tour, with a toddler on a concho I'd not recommend it really.
Driving time is about 15 minutes, due to potholes after leaving the tarmac stretch.
