i did some research on samana hotels and was going to stay at this onehttp://larancheta.com/ never went but the owners seemed very nice and replied quickly online to my requests. not plugging but more options to consider will go there this year hopefully... enjoy your visit
We have a small bed & breakfast in las Galeras. There are whale watching tours out of here as well and many people stay here and go to Samana for the day to whale watch.
