Question Sabana de la mar???

hey!

i was wondering if anyone can give me some info/feedback on Sabana de la mar, since not much can be found on www...

what are the living conditions there? I'm just looking for a nice, peaceful small town where there are no tourists, resorts and all that stuff.... You know, just wanna spend some time by nature and with the locals...

Oh, and does anyone here know of any kinder/preschool in Sabana? What are the approximate prices there?

Thank u all in advance

I read a blog the other day by a Peace Corps volunteer there who says she is the only gringa in town. Her posting appears to be linked to one of the schools there.
Robyn's Dominican Republic

My impressions from a brief visit earlier this year: Sabana de la Mar is a sleepy town, and according to someone I spoke to most of the young people have migrated. It looked fairly clean, a few discos and a couple of fish restaurants and not much more. The tourists and resorts are on the other side of the Bay of Samana, a ferry ride away. There is natural beauty in the area - Los Haitises National Park. No specific information about schools but most pueblos have a couple of small, inexpensive private schools. Maybe you could e-mail Robyn?

Hi, I was there last jun, and you are right there are not a lot info about it. it's a beautiful area, near to Los Haitises. Not much to do there, and I dont think that they have private pre-school there. I sugest you visit Miches too, its an small town and beautifull beaches too.

Default Sabana de la mar - hotel in Cano Hondo

Hi,
don't know much about Sabana which looks inded like an old day sleepy town ( and it is pleasant) But have spent a w.e at following hotel
Hotel Paraiso Cano Hondo - Dominican Republic
You may want to stay there a while to decide where to go. It was a isolated simple hotel with something magic (lots of falls and natural pools, and the noise of falling water all around, great !). I heard that it is now more expensive, but sure it is still worth a look.
