Default Nagua - Safe for first time visit

Would Nagua be considered a safe place to visit for a first timer, with limited Spanish?

Thank you.

JR hartley is correct, it is definitely not the most exciting place in the world but it is reasonably safe, no different from similar sized Dominican cities. It is well located between Rio San Juan and Samana so it might not be a bad base for travels in the north east coast. The town is OK, it has a couple decent supermarkets and some nice residential areas but it is far from a tourist destination.

Nagua La ciudad de los cuatro vientos very popular town in the DR because the women are addressed as one of the hotest around the country "Entra si quires y sal si puedes" popular slang of this town, what it means is that if you go to Nagua it will be hard for you to go out agan as the girls will get your heart tied. The name of one of the neighborhoods of this town is "Pantie Flojo" I'm no kidding you it is real, in this neighborhood girls are so putas that when they see a guy driving around in a nice car the panties will come down automatically.

BS my brother BS.
Nagua is kind of a sleepy and very safe town with great beaches (playa Bojolo, Playa de los Gringos etc.). no much of a tourist town as agriculture is the big thing(rice, catle). i find woman there to be old fashioned if anything, so unles you want to be ridicule and laugh at, dont approach the woman as gold digger or putas with your brand new rented "Jepeta".

the town is very clean and houses well kept. i highly recommend it as a destination. to me sitting by the beach eating fry fish with tostones in Matansitas is god on earth. driving on the highway is breathtaking too.
i need sleep.

Crap, and there was me scrolling around Nagua in Easter and nobody mentioned that neighborhood to me, I think Easter would have been more exciting if I knew the existence of that happy neighborhood.

It a great choice, and no tourists to muck it up...live in that part of Samana and visit Nagua occasionally,it is a very nice small city, and fairly safe to walk around....and the women are as advertised...

When I had been in Las Terrenas for a year with no car, dreaming perhaps of finding my way to go on a shopping trip to La Sirena at San Pedro de Marcoris, my friend called me one morning to say that she was going to Nagua to buy food for her goat and did I want to come. BE STILL MY HEART!! A TRIP OUT OF TOWN! even paradise can get boring, and LT is a long way from anywhere (or was, certainly before the new road)

WE went, we bought goat food, we had lunch, I went shopping, HEY IMAGINE THESE INCREDIBLE RAYBANS for ONLY 90 PESOS! we drove home.... but since the road over the mountains was half washed out THAT was exciting... And there is a nice stretch on the beach

but hard to say that Nagua is a tourist destination

except perhaps if you are looking for goat food

can't comment on the panty thread

but that might work in well with the goat food thing, huh?
