We are talking about Real Estate......and the many ways there are to try and sell it.
And if this post gets edited or deleted, then long live the DR2

All the threads.
The answers to this poll says alot about how people perceive the DR via the information they seek on this site and/or what type of information has a greater effect on their opinions about the country, whether the info is positive (which would produce an optimistic viewpoint) or negative (which would produce a pessimistic viewpoint) and anything inbetween is moderated by all threads that are in neither extremes.
Of course, people who seek negative info will most likely be pessimistic and people who seek positive info will most likely be optimistic.
People who simply gathers random info will have a mixed bag in their opinion of the DR based on info they receive on DR1.
The answer various individuals choose on this poll says alot about what type of information X percentage of participants value to the degree that it affects their opinion of the DR.
It also shows what type of information X percentage of participants seek on DR1 (i.e. cynics or pessimists may seek negative or pessimistic information and thus, develop a pessimistic view of the DR based on info they read on DR1).
Moreover and most importantly, it shows whether people develop an overall positive or negative view of the DR after reading DR1.

My experiences in the DR were much, much better than this thread describes. i 've been traveling there for the last five years and i haven't experienced any negativity at all.
i think some of the members on this site make the dr look bad.

Words of wisdom....
People have to be careful about interpreting the results of polls. There will always be people who are pessimistic about everything and there will always be those who see the good in everything. The important thing is to take everything you read with a grain of salt (things usually get blown way out of proportion), use common sense no matter where you go in the world (crime and criminals are everywhere) and look out for yourself (don't get so fall down drunk or don't be so naiive that someone takes advantage of you!!).
