Could either one of them win? No!

Realistically, only Leonel and Vargas Maldonado have a true chance, but that doesn't take away the fact that both are legitimate candidates because DeCamps has his following; albeit small, and has shown a modicum of courage and character by standing up to the PPH, unlike the other high leaders of the PRD. Candelier is a hard nosed candidate, and given the current conditions in the country, there is a large segment of the population that is clamoring for a man like him to take charge and clean up some of the garbage, whatever his methods may be.

Finally, we all know that politics in DR are such a joke, that El Raton Miguel (Mickey Mouse) would be a viable candidate. He would just need a few helicopters and enough paper currency to go around.

Since there are so many expats in the DR and also Dominicans who work abroad, those who care about current state of the country. Maybe they could try to find a presidential candidate who would actually do something right and change things for better????? They could try to finance his presidential campaign, educate voters so that they understand who to vote for, etc.

Do you think this would be a more useful expense then buying ocean front properties in Casa de Campo or spending money on stays in all inclusive resorts?

It might be a silly, but it is just an idea ...

P.S. I also apologize in advance to everyone who might get offended

Offended? For what?

Keep in mind, there is a very strong difference between where people THINK the country is heading and where it will ACTUALLY end up.

Need less to say, people are hardly ever right!

If they were, then they would be psychics or fortune tellers and yet, the lottery is always won by chance! (If you don't get what I am saying, simply re-read this until you get it).

Or to quote Doug Gwyn:

"Truth is not determined by majority vote."

Having said all of that, I'm still baffled as to why people put all their trust on negative information that occasionally sprouts from government sources (for example, a few years ago government statistic showed that there was indeed an increase in violent crime across the DR), but they completely mistrust the same government when positive information comes from the same source (for example, recently the government has shown that crime is actually on a decline).

Of course, public opinion never agrees with positive news sprouting from the government, regardless who's in power and that is one fact that baffles my mind.

Governmental leaders tent to listen to those organizations or individuals who back up their opinions with some sort of actions or financial support. So, I noticed a lot of people here like to complain and write "open letters" to the government. I thought that it is much easier to do these things through an organization that would actually do something real and useful for the country and demand "right" things from the government at the same time. I am not sure if there are such organizations in the DR.
