Default Let's talk politics...

Of the three major parties, what presidential candidate would you like to win in the presidential elections 2008?

A) Leonel Fernández (PLD)
B) Vargas Maldonado (PRD)
C) Amable Aristy Castro (PRSC)

BTW, if you click on the acronym of each party, you will be able to go to their official webpage.

I'll take the lesser of 3 evils, Leonel.

Leonel by a landslide .... since returning to power, there're many signs that the DR is better off. Inflation in check, major infrastructure projects underway, and many foreign investors. Many disagree with his infrastructure projects, but to develop the econony, these projects are mandatory ... similar to FDR's plan during the great depression.

Why was my comment to offer an "other" choice removed? I don't like either of the three listed above, and I think that there are other viable choices. Candelier and DeCamps being two of them.

viable? maybe you should check your dictionary for the meaning of the term. Candelier and DeCamps have less chance to survive a political campaign than a cockroach in a chicken coop. Both, as politicians, are burned-out cases. Candelier has over 700 crosses next to his name (extrajudicial executions) and the image imprinted in the Dominican voter's collective psyche of setting a fire from his helicopter a burro along with its load of charcoal (an image obviously not as positive as an Amable Aristy throwing peso bills to the crowd below from a helicopter). Also, Candelier has lost his military rank with retirement, and he is not even popular among his ex comrades-in-arms. DeCamps is not even worth a line of speculation, not even his current wife, Dominique Bludhorn, would vote for him.

Default Ninguno sirven.....

Who SHOULD WIN: None of them.

Who I think will win: "The Traveling President", Leonel.

I guess the other 2 will have to wait a bit longer for them and their whole family and friends to become "Bill Gates".

With crime out of control Candelier might not be such a longshot afterall. Who knows how popular Leonel will be come election time? People want law and order restored.

Does anyone know anything about Candelier's political platform outside of his stance on crime?

Has anyone ever accused him of taking bribes from drug lords? Is Candelier considered to be as personally corrupt as many of the other politicians?

Does anyone know who is backers are?

What are the chances he could be a vice presidential running mate?
