Default I disagree - you have to go with the law.

I do not agree with calling oneself Italian when you are not born in Italy and have not become a naturalized citizen. Italian descent, fine, but not Italian. All four of my grandparents are from the same country, but I was born in the USA. I am not from the country of my grandparents and I have absolutely no ties to that country.

That said, if I wanted to, I could apply to live there and it would be easier for me to become a citizen there than it would be for most other people. If and only if I did that could a call myself as being of that country. With no advantage to doing so, it will never happen.

When one lives in the USA one tends to do that in order to give some background info about oneself. People are always interested on your background, well at least it happens to me, all the time. If I say, I'm American, but they hear me speaking spanish, they're still not satisfied with that answer, they want to know background info, so to skip all that I just say I'm Dominican.

ok Alex is a Dominican hottie.!!! I gave him a 4.

Alex was as American as they come growing up! In fact he was an excellent quarterback for the varsity football team at Westminster Christian High School in Miami until he gave the sport up after his 10th grade year.

Alex Rodriguez is not Dominican ! he's latino he had a chance to play for this country in the world baseball classic but chose instead to play for his country the USA and there is nothing wrong with that but it is what it is

This isn't a discussion about baseball or what country should claim this hunk.

It's about his looks and nothing else

If he is from Dominican heritage well that's great, this makes it DR related right.

I will be cleaning this up in a few minutes so don't come complaining to me that your post is gone.

And yes I have Sicilian blood in my veins so watch out

are you holding a grudge???............ he's Latino? yes of Dominican descent. He can definitly say he's Dominican, so people can understand he's background, ok end of story.

so Anna, do you say you are part Italian, when asked what is your background? I hear it all the time people say they are a 1/4 of this 1/2 of that. The world is a beautiful Melting Pot.

A.Rod is Dominican hottie.

btw: two people voted Ugly - hahaha you are just jealous.

Arod is a Dominican-American.

His blood is 100% Dominican "blend", which explains why he can claim his Dominican citizenship by simply going to his closest Dominican consulate, presenting proof that at least one of his parents were born in the DR and voila, sign a few papers and by law he's a real Dominican.

Biologically = 100% Dominican from father and mother.

Culturally = a blend of Dominican and American.

Politically = American with the option to acquire his Dominican citizenship by merely proving at a Dominican consulate that he has Dominican blood (How many non-Dominicans can do that without having to do all the steps required for truly non-Dominicans in order to be granted Dominican citizenship?).

He's Dominican in everything except culture, which is a blend of Dominican and American. Thus, he's more Dominican than American and let's leave it at that!

Any other comments about this beyond this post should be erased.
