jrzyguy, I don't think this poll is for tourists, it states in the question,
To DR1 members living in the Dominican Republic, whether full-time (year round) or part-time (at least 2 consecutive months or more)

Why should it be any different on DR1?

Although this is going slightly off subject NALs, I am glad you brought this up. Looking at atendance figure of polls worldwide I notice the 'norm' is in excess of 25% - generally nearer the 45% mark. What is the involvement ratio on DR1? 0.5% or less? Maybe the desire to vote is deminshed somewhat by the greater confusion in what the voting public is being asked to vote on & the way the 'questions' are asked. THIS is the main thrust of my comments here on the Polls forum.
Get more lucid questions with the ability of those participating to make a valued decision as to HOW to answer & your voting responses might well increase dramatically. They will then certainly MEAN something.
Just trying to be helpful
Anyway, ............. WHOEVER said that DR1 is a democracy?? ~ Grahame.

The purpose of using the democracy example was not to suggest that DR1 is a democracy, because its more than obvious that its not and as a private enterprise, it can be whatever the heck it wants to be.
However, my message was that in the same way that democracies are not abandoned or eliminated for the sole reason that most people in them don't exercise their right to vote; neither will the polls forum.
Much to the detriment of non-elitist people, the fact remains that most decisions concerning everyone are often decided by a minority. In the same manner, only a minority of DR1ers will participate in any given poll and quite frankly, the participation of those who choose to do so is what is valued the most.
If everyone else wants their opinion to count, then they better vote or express their minds or simply accept whatever comes their way.
After its all said and done, only two (you and SantiagoDR) have been actively criticizing this poll. Again, a minority; a very tiny minority.

Nals;
I chose #2 simply because when I arrived in the DR I was on a cruise of the Caribbean and got stuck in Manzanillo with mechanical difficulties on my yacht.
I stayed because I came to theconclusion that I had not thestamina to continue with the cruise as planned.
Now, how does that scenario fit into your poll?
Do you, or anyone else, think I answered correctly???
I really think you should be a little more definitive with the multiple answers you post for a particular question. Either that, or make it a two/three part poll.

That's why there is option 8. Other, as in the reasons for moving was one that none of the options pertains to.
Having said that, the answer options came directly from the person who suggested this poll, a DR1 member by the name of Static.

Having said that....
... you are finally jumping ship, "¿El capitán?"
You have the true spirit of a native Dominican,
"...it wasn´t me, it was him!".
Great last words as the ship slowly sinks into the sunset!
