There is already a casino in Sosua. But it is not well thought of due to maintenance and operation problems. I know where it is, but have never heard anybody say anything good about it, and have never seen it promoted.

Paul wrote:

2 more hotels in Cabarete changed hands will also be refitted
for the north american market.

Which hotels were these, who were the buyers and how are they being changed?

What is your view of La Punta Apartamentos?

Thanks!

Now I hear that the old Sandcastles was bought up by
an Arab group.
With certain conditions asked and received.
That Sosua Abajo will be cleared . The river/ sewer closed.
and that that the bottom part of that bay will be a marina.

These were plans longtime on the planning board but seems to get a revival with this new purchase.

Ofcourse without these changes any renewed Sandcastle is doomed.

Default La Punta Apartamentos - Italian Owner

Paul,

You are a fantastic resource on this thread (as is Jazz). Thank you for any color you kind add on those apartments next to the Valero. La Punta's owner is absentee (Italy).

Default La Punta apartments

You would certainly eat well. It is next to the best restaurant in town--although I am not 100% certain it is still there given the tendency for even good restaurants to change hands. Called Otra Cosa, it is French owned and fabulous.

I have heard from some renters that LaPunta is just fine, but I have also heard that Velero, the brand new resort next door, has some surprisingly inexpensive rentals.

The neighborhood is away from the center of town, but not very far.
