Those faultline photos are rather troubling! We're interested in the north coast/Samana area because I read there's less threat of hurricanes....but we hadn't considered earthquakes and tsunamis!!
Are you really re-considering your plans to build there due to those threats?

I think the whole state of California is on a far worse faultline with numerous warnings and I haven't seen anyone stop building/investing in that area !?

Why west and north?...Best protection from hurricanes, less earthquake activity, and if you buy something a little elevated you will have protection from tsunamis as well. Somewhere like Luperon

I believe that you're not immune to hurricanes anywhere in the Caribbean. For long term ROI I believe that the southwest will offer best value for square meter beachfront. It is now where Samana was just before the airport opened.

being a land owner and constructing a small hotel and rest. and condos in barahona i believe with certain indicators as for one ,the gov.is investing 25 million u.s. into grooming of the beaches.the airport opening this year and also on the drawing board, two 1000 room hotels.also more important for sheer beauty ,they don't call barahona the garden of eden for nothing.true samana is hot right now,but so are the prices.my suggestion is check them out for yourself, see what FITS YOU-price,time to recoop investment and also all these places have there own personalities.
