Encuentro Beach is a beautiful area, prime for development....but hopefully it won't get over-developed to the point of ruining the surf break or the overall "vibe" of the area...

Default Impact on Surfing from the photo in the Nikki Beach prospectus

From the photo in the Nikki Beach prospectus, it looks like they might be taking over the beach front that surfers currently use. Can anyone more familiar with that location tell us if that is the case?

The photo I am talking about is on page 21 of their prospectus located at

That is a different project on the opposite end of Cabarete...it is located next to the restaurant Embocca.

It is on the western side of the area where surfers, um....surf. There have been many plans for that area over the years....most of which have not gone over well with the area's water sports community.

Is this a different project or is it the Nikki Beach Project. I'm confused. Is there going to be a project on the Ecuentro Beach?

If I recall correctly, the Sarah Garcia mentioned is the architect that also designed the widely acclaimed Casa Colonial Hotel, ..

These are two entirely different projects, several miles apart, at opposite ends of Cabarete. The first link refers to Encuentro beach, the second to the area in east Cabarete, next to Emboca.

Palmera's plans look high end, but it doesn't seem to me that the location is.

Not the best beach, fair distance out of town, not real safe water for swimming, and very little buffer from the noisy highway. They're selling 'Cabarete', but Cabarete's 2 km away.

I can't quite figure what it has going for it to attract those sort of prices. That's really big money to be near 'nothing'.

Last update: 5:52 p.m. EDT Aug. 14, 2008

CABARETE, Dominican Republic, Aug 14, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Cabarete, the beach town in the Dominican Republic, has been on the radar of those in-the-know for years. Now, Sackman Enterprises, Inc. is set to bring this jewel to a wider market. With more than 40 years in the real estate market and an earned reputation of quality in development, there is no better company to create the first development in the area.

Possessing a portfolio of over 80 developments, Sackman Enterprises, Inc. has created truly stunning properties such as Somerset in Turks and Caicos and The Lodge at Keyah Grande in Colorado.

With an attention for detail and a high-regard for the traditions, culture, and preservation of the area, Sackman Enterprises, Inc. is poised to bring The Fountains, a magnificent condominium, retail plaza, and resort community to Cabarete.

Sackman Enterprises, Inc. recently held a meeting in Manhattan to showcase their impressive portfolio and discuss this grand project. In a showing of support, the Minister of Tourism from the Dominican Republic and the Governor of the Province of Puerto Plata flew to Manhattan to meet with top Sackman executives, Carter Sackman and Jamie Hefelfinger, and Sackman Development Partner, Trip Brooks. The esteemed attendees discussed the project and the positive impacts that it will have on the area.

The Fountains will be the realization of over sixteen months of planning and a future investment exceeding sixty million US dollars. Trip Brooks states, "With the current administration including President Leonel Fernandez, Minister of Tourism Felix Jimenez, Provincial Governor Cesar de Los Santos, and the Sub Secretary of Tourism Bernardita de Fenke, the government has created a positive market. We have unwavering confidence in the country's administration. Their show of support and the efforts they took to ensure that the project and its developers are sound speaks volumes about their care for the area. The Fountains will be a result of love for the area and an unmatched expertise in real estate development."

Expected to break ground Mid-September 2008, The Fountains will feature luxurious units, a "Plaza Level" featuring retail shops, a cinema, open air kiosks, water features, an outdoor stage, sublevel parking facility, and deluxe Condo Hotel.
