I will be arriving in Santo Domingo on the 22nd of May. If things go well, I'll look for a more permanent situation and I'll be staying for a very long time. In the interim, I'm looking for a roommate, or room for rent for the first 1-3 months that I am there.
I'm cheap, and don't really need much. I'd be happy if I could find a place for $250USD a month. Of course I need a bed, and I would rather cook than eat out. So use of a kitchen, or a small efficiency would be very nice. Internet is very important to me. So local internet instead of visiting cyber cafe's with WiFi hot spots is high on the list of things I need. Other than that, I'm a pretty simply, carefree, easy to get along with guy.
A roommate would probably be my first choice. I'm new to the island, and having a roommate would be a great way for me to start meeting people and networking right away. I speak poor and broken Spanish. So to me, living with and being around people who speak fluent Spanish is another high on the list of priorities for me. It will force me to learn Spanish on the fast track. I don't want to be just another gringo that only speaks English.
A little about me. I've been in the IT sector for long time. I do online marketing,
SEO, coding, and all that good stuff. My laptop goes where I go, and that's one of the reason I need Internet. I also enjoy the arts, and was a professional photographer for many years.
I don't smoke, and I don't drink. I'm not apposed to drinking, and I can go out and have a good time just like anyone else. I personally, just don't drink. I respect other peoples space and property, and I would expect the same in return. I enjoy cooking, and meeting new people and making new friends.
I've been lurking around here for awhile, but never posted. I'm hoping to integrate the DR into part of my life and visa versa.
So if anyone has a room for rent, knows of someone renting a room, or has a 1br place or small efficiency available, I would be very grateful for your help.
