If the Miami case goes into receivership, and/or criminal,
the timeshare owners should receive important request for documentation to prove they own the timeshare. So, at the time of distribution of any assets collected, each TS owner should be counted.

This is not going to happen, soon, IMO. Just do not throw anything away and be prepared to respond to the court request.

On Thursday dozens of Sun Village employees picketed the hotel demanding either jobs or the payment of their liquidacion according to an article in the print version of El Faro which is not on the online version. They had apparently been sent home for 45 days and that period has now elapsed.

An ex-employee who phoned in to the Así son las Cosas programme, had been told by an assistant manager of the company buying the property 'we didn't buy the employees'.

Ex-employees are still looking for their liquidation pay.

I know of one employee - who got sick while working there. She has cancer. Because of the fact Sun Village did not pay their insurance premiums as required by law - this young lady has NO INSURANCE. Her family and friends have struggled to come up with enough money to pay for her Chemo. As it stands now they are out of money and she still has 3 more chemo sessions to get thru!!!!

This mess is creating havok for the employees and their families.

The bank auction of the property should have included the employee liquidation and any legal judgements pending payment, however, they might be limited to the company defaulting and not be transferable to the new owners of the property. Not sure how bankruptcy law works in the DR but it probably doesn't, like most things here. The good thing is, The Bungalows are to re-open December 15th under Lifestyle Holidays and hopefully some of the ex-employees will ge their jobs back.

Well worth reading for anyone wondering just how deep this went (& maybe still goes). The Court report traces the moves made by the alleged defrauders to make themselves judgement proof - see footnotes 10 and 12 for example, and it analyses two tiers of potential criminal conduct using the term Ponzi Scheme (page 13).

Sombre reading indeed.

The Report is interesting and gives a full picture of happening . But it's not clear if Juan Dolio property was actually sold on the mentioned public auction on Sept 10 , 2009 after being foreclosed by the banks . If it was sold , who bought it ? ... As well properties in Cofresi : both Resort and Bungalows together were bought by Globalia on the public auction , that's why there was no monetary details in press about transaction to Lifestyle Resorts . In reality there was a quite interesting ''rental'' offer made to Globalia by Lifestyles on the Bungalows. I guess the Bungalows will form part of the Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club now .
